Brian Cronin, Illustrator
Brian Cronin was born in Dublin in 1958, where in 1981 he obtained a BSC in Graphic Design from the National College of Art and Design; after college he joined The New Art Studios in Dublin. In 1984 his work was exhibited in a touring exhibition with three other artists under the collective title ‘668’. At this time Brian also began receiving illustration commissions from In Dublin Magazine and The Irish Times. In 1985 he moved to New York to pursue his career as a commercial illustrator —decades later, he has surely proven himself in the field.
Brian Cronin’s illustrations are published regularly in major international periodicals and publications including BMW, JP Morgan, Microsoft, NYU, Rolling Stone, The Atlantic, The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, The Los Angeles Times, The Times London, The Wall Street Journal, Virgin Atlantic, and countless others. His work has also been published in many important illustration annuals such as American Illustration, The Society of Publication Designers Annual, European Illustration, The Art Directors Club Annual, Communication Arts, Graphis Annual Reports 3.
He has exhibited work regularly since 1989 in The Art Directors Club Annual Exhibition, NY, The Society of Publication Designers Annual Exhibition, NY and the American Illustration Annual Exhibition, NY. He has also exhibited in group exhibitions in London, Los Angeles, Naples, Osaka, Tokyo, and Zurich.
Brian Cronin has received several awards for his work including Gold Medals from the Society of Publication Designers Annual Exhibition (’90, ’97), The New York Art Directors Club Annual (’90, ’95), a Silver Medal from the Society of Illustrators, NY (’97), and the Patrick Nagel Award from The Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles (’97).
